“I heard that,” “It seems that,”
Used when you are not very sure about something, but you heard it somewhere.
In a conversation, more common to use [[らしいよ], or らしいです。
Examples
日本はドイツより大きいらしい。
にほんはどいつよりおおきいらしい。
I heard that Japan is bigger than Germany.
